The kids loved doing this unit on Eric Carle.

We read his books, listened to his books, watched him put together his books (via YouTube) and even created our own illustrations inspired by Eric Carle!

Although it took a few steps, the kids absolutely loved this project!

First we chose two colors to paint on our canvas. We used paint brushes (both ends!) and went to work. After we painted two different canvases and let them dry. We traced what we wanted to draw and cut it out. After pasting it onto a blank white construction paper we added some details with crayon and colored pencils.

The kids were able to better understand the process of illustrating and their final products were amazing! (If I do say so myself!)
