The kids loved doing this unit on Eric Carle.
We read his books, listened to his books, watched him put together his books (via YouTube) and even created our own illustrations inspired by Eric Carle!
Although it took a few steps, the kids absolutely loved this project!
First we chose two colors to paint on our canvas. We used paint brushes (both ends!) and went to work. After we painted two different canvases and let them dry. We traced what we wanted to draw and cut it out. After pasting it onto a blank white construction paper we added some details with crayon and colored pencils.
The kids were able to better understand the process of illustrating and their final products were amazing! (If I do say so myself!)

For the last two weeks we have been learning about Animals! The kids have gone crazy about the art projects I found on Deanna Jump's Blog. (Her unit available on Teacher's Pay Teacher's)
We have learned about African animals, created Venn diagrams for Zebra's and Giraffes (Also from the blog listed) and have created the cutest art projects!!
Started learning about syllables this week...loved this idea! The kids really were able to grasp syllables by saying the word aloud and then closing their mouth and saying it ahead with their mouth closed. By doing this they were able to count the sounds that they heard and thus count the syllables! Thanks to my 2nd grade teacher-friend Sue for this fantastic idea!!! :)
Next week we're going into Ocean Animals...I love how each day the kids try to guess what we are going to learn about. They never tire of bringing pictures of frogs to my attention (they know I'm scared to death of them). Love my kiddos.

This is the beginning! The beginning to a whole new adventure! BLOGGING! :)
I am excited to begin this journey, although I'm not sure where this endeavor will lead.
I am a new (in my 2nd year) kindergarten teacher. I love all things Kindergarten...the loose teeth, big hugs, sensitive little people and excitement about school. There is nothing like it!
So here we go! I hope you stay tuned and are able to use something that is posted on here! :)
